Real World:

- Today is officially Girl's Night Out! Woot! I've been waiting all week for this day to come. Tonight, I slap on some makeup, put my hair down, and spend some quality time with the ladies. Listen, I REALLY need this. I never get to go out and do anything that doesn't involve the child or the husd, so this is lovely. I plan to have a great time and get a little shit-faced in the process. What started out as a few of us from work making plans has turned into about 15 people, including Etta and maybe my brother Jimmy, getting together to have a good time. Wanna come? Head to the Daiquiri Depot on Canal St. in Pooler tonight around 7:30/8'ish. Don't be afraid to come over and say hello. I'm bringing my cam, so if you're a fellow blogger or just a fan, chances are you'll end up on the site if you do. You can't miss me, I'll be the fat chick chugging down $2 margaritas. Déjenos partido mis amigos!

- Well, I did my good deed for the day. Jason called late last night and wanted me to call around and find a place for a woman and her five children to sleep for the night. Apparently, and I'm not going to go into details, she was involved in a family spat and was forced to sleep with her children in her car. She's from out-of-town, so she didn't have anywhere to stay. I called about five places in Savannah before I found one that had beds. So now she has a place to sleep until she can find her way back home. As you can see, contrary to popular belief, I do have warm blood flowing through my veins. :)

Around Savannah:

- I'm not a big Chippendales/Skimpy-Greasy-Men-in-Tiny-Underwear fan. I've never gotten the appeal personally, but a lot of people do. To each their own I suppose. So anyways, for those of you in the SAV who do love to see Fabio types shake their bootay, I've got some information for you. The Men of Playboy will be at Hip Huggers on Bay Street tonight. The doors open up for the ladies at 8PM and for the men at midnight. While you're there, keep an eye out for celebrities. They seem to love the joint. Oh and bring an extra pack of handywipes, you'll probably need them.

- Ron Taylor, from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, will be at the Johnny Mercer Theatre September 18th at 8 and 10PM. You can buy your tickets online by clicking here. I wanna go! :)

- I found this site last night and thought it was really cool. You get 360 virtual tours of different colleges and universities. I don't know whose apartment this is, but damn. Come fix mine up, okay? This is where my classes are this semester. :)

- Duty, Death in an Apache: A wonderful and heartbreaking article from SavannahNow.com about Apache Longbow helicopter pilot Nicholas DiMona, who lived and died doing what he loved. The article also goes in-depth about the recent problems with the Apaches. It's a must-read.

Recipes:
I plan to try one or all of the following tonight...

- Jello Shots:
2 cups Vodka
3 packages Jello with sugar
3 cups Water

Boil 3 cups of water then add jello. Mix jello and water until jello is completely disolved. Add the two cups of vodka and mix together. Pour mixture into plastic shot glasses and chill until firm.

- 1-900-FUK-MEUP: *gotta LOVE the name*
1/2 oz Absolut Kurant
1/4 oz Grand Marnier
1/4 oz Chambord raspberry liqueur
1/4 oz Midori melon liqueur
1/4 oz Malibu rum
1/4 oz Amaretto
1/2 oz Cranberry juice
1/4 oz Pineapple juice

Shake ingredients in a mixing tin filled with ice cubes. Strain into a rocks glass.

- A Piece of Ass:
1 shot Amaretto
1 shot Southern Comfort
Ice cubes
Top off with Sour mix

Put ice in glass. Pour in shots. Fill with Sour Mix.

- Adios Motherfucker #2:
1 oz Kahlua
1 oz Tequila

Layer in a shot glass

- Screaming Orgasm: *this is some good shit*
3 cl Bailey's Irish Cream
2 cl Coffee Liqueur
2 cl White Rum
1 dash Cointreau
1 dash cold Milk
Ice

Fill up the shaker with ice and put the ingredients in it.

Shake it until it gets frosty on the outside. Before you start shaking, place ice cubes in the glass and fill it up with water so the glass is cold when you have shaken the drink. Take the ice cubes and water out of the glass, and fill the glass again with ice cubes and pour the drink in the glass.

Quotes of the Week:

"I don't trust Ted Kennedy...Democrats are putrid" --- Ta-ray-zah Heinz Kerry...before she drunk the Kool-Aid.

"The media will spend weeks going through pay stubs for Bush's National Guard service in Alabama in the waning days of war, but if Kerry tells them exotic tales of covert missions into Cambodia directed by Richard Nixon, they don't even bother to fact-check who was president in December 1968." --- Ann Coulter

"Our Founding Fathers were supreme champions of freedom of speech. But we should never forget that Alexander Hamilton was shot over something he said. Because in their infinite wisdom our Founding Fathers also gave us the second amendment, the right to bear arms, which is a reminder that while we can pretty much do and say whatever we want-you better watch it, asshole." --- Dennis Miller

and because I love the man so damn much...

"I have no patience for the idea that society forces us into our misdeeds. For every person with a bad childhood who becomes a serial killer, there are a thousand who learn from that experience to be better parents to their own kids. For every guy from a poor neighborhood who grows up into a criminal, there are a thousand who work hard and build a decent life for themselves. For every misguided soul raised in a permissive hippie atmosphere who turns into a John Walker Lindh, there are a thousand more who become the gentle stoner cashiers trying to push the new Phil Lesh solo album on you at Tower Records." --- Dennis Miller

"We can expect a big freak show at the upcoming Republican Convention in New York. The far left nut jobs will ensure Bush's re-election, even though they will think they're doing the opposite. In fact, I hope they go on a total Bush-hatin' rampage in the streets of New York. Everyone knows whose side they're on, and the worse the protesters act, the more people will realize how low the Democratic Party has fallen."

"Bush and his minions at NASA created Hurricane Charlie! This gives him an excuse to write his brother a blank check instead of educating blacks. It'll also get his white Christian ass all over the media there in violation of McCain Feingold!" --- Some lefty assnugget from DU at Annika's.

"does anyone else think Laura Bush is a cold uncaring bitch?" --- JI7

*wait for it*

"The Pubs (Republicans) continue to use Negative Cards" --- opihimoimoi

Entertain Me...Or Not:

- A little something for the men: Why do women's body look like a penis? BTW: Not work safe. P.S. Don't ask me how I found it, I just did.

- Speaking of penis': I want a box of this Penis Pasta. It gets bigger when cooked! I have to buy a box. Can you imagine the look on my mother's face when I bring that casserole to the next pot luck dinner at my Grandma Mitchells? Ha!

- Now's the time to register for BloggerCon. The BloggerCon will be held November 6, 2004 at Stanford Law School in Palo Alto, CA. They're taking 300 registrants and half have already been signed up for, so do it now if you're interested.

- With the exception of the opening ceremonies, I haven't watched the Olympics. I have no desire. Isn't that sad? I'm just not in a "pull-out-my-pom poms" sort of mood. But that doesn't mean that I'm not cheering on the USA...go team. :)

- Sometime in January, fans of "The Simpsons" will discover that one of their favorite characters is gay. Anyone willing to take a guess as to who they think it may be? I'm probably wrong, but I'm going with the Comic-Store Guy.

- According to this article at FoxNews.com, Regis Philbin has logged over 15,188 hours, breaking the Guinness World Record for most hours on camera. The talk show host passes broadcaster Hugh Downs for the record.

- This week, Costco stores began test-marketing caskets in two Chicago stores. You too can buy the caskets for a low, low price of $799.99 and you can even have them delivered within 48 hours. Is anyone else a little freaked out?

- I took one a couple of those online IQ tests and, though not completely scientific, they do seem pretty consistent. On this one, I scored a 122. On this one, I scored a 121:

You are an Insightful Linguist. This means you have the natural fluency of a writer and the visual talents of an artist. You also have a creative and expressive mind.

I searched for some IQ test score interpretations and came up with two very good links: Audiblox and Maxpages. According to those two sites, my score puts me in the Superior intelligence category. The percentage is somewhere between 6.7%-11% of the population. Not too shabby. :) I'll take a certified test in four years, when I graduate, and I'll see where I stand then.

Hat tip to the sex-hay Sam for the second IQ link.

Heroes and Heroines:

- This is one brave little girl.

A San Jose girl who was kidnapped and repeatedly sexually assaulted continued testifying today against her alleged abductor, telling a remarkable story of bravery and quick thinking.

On Tuesday, the 11-year-old girl began her heavily anticipated testimony in Santa Clara County Superior Court against David Montiel Cruz, the man who allegedly held her captive for three days in a terrifying ordeal last June.

With poise and a quiet confidence, the girl, who said Tuesday she slept in her mother's bed the night before her abduction because she was scared of the dark, today outlined the events of June 6, 2003 when she returned home from school to find Cruz at her house.

She provided articulate details of how she was raped, handcuffed and allegedly taken to Cruz's home after her mother and brother were severely beaten as they tried to prevent the kidnapping.

At times the girl, who was 9 years old when she was kidnapped, fought back tears as she described how Cruz allegedly "harmed her" repeatedly in the days that would follow.

Cruz, 25, faces up to 115 years in state prison on nine alleged charges including burglary and kidnapping.

Carl Beatty, Cruz's attorney, has maintained that Cruz was mentally incompetent at the time of the kidnapping, suffering mental anguish from years of beatings by his father.

Mentally incompentent my fucking ass! Toss him back over the border and shoot his raping ass if he tries to get back in.

- Since Riika first told me about Gmail4Troops, I've been waiting impatiently for the chance to send my invites. I'm proud to announce that I donated three invites last night. I hope you guys and gals in the military put them to good use. :)

- I know that I've posted this link before, but I think it's important to post it again:

Politics:

- Those fools at Dumbocratic Underground can't even be happy for the damn Iraqi soccer team. What a bunch of assnuggets. Why shouldn't we be happy for them? Why shouldn't we chear them on. You guys need to stop being such assholes. Oh wait, you can't help it. How pathetic.

- My name is Cornholio. I want TP for my bunghole. Hehe.

- I support our Prez, but I'm not so much of a tight-ass that I can't find this funny. He'll be bawwwk...hopefully.

- I've been a member of Protest Warrior for a few months now. I'm a frequent poster of the forums, which btw, DOES allow dissenting views, unlike DU. I haven't had the honor of actually partaking in one of the counter-protests, but I certainly look forward to the day I can. So anyways, I was giddy when I came across this article on MSNBC. I had no idea that Kfir Alfia, the co-founder of the site, was so damn hot. Good Lord, is he ever hot. *fans self* But anyhoo...check the site out and read up on what the PW's have been up to. My favorite so far: Operation Bias Check, where they crashed "The Today Show".

- Have you played the Waffles Flip-Flop Olympics yet?

- Titty-Baby Alert:

Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry accused President Bush on Thursday of letting front groups "do his dirty work" in questioning his military service during the Vietnam War.

"The president keeps telling people he would never question my service to our country. Instead, he watches as a Republican-funded attack group does just that," Kerry told a firefighters' union conference in his hometown of Boston.

If that's the case, then Waffles better be ready to call groups like MOVEON.ORG off. But we all know that's not going to happen, don't we?

- This is pretty cool:

Police Turn Up Volume for GOP Convention By TOM HAYS, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK - Forget the megaphones. Police will have a much more high-tech — and louder — option to make themselves heard over the din of Manhattan traffic and noisy protesters outside the Republican National Convention.

It's called the Long Range Acoustic Device, developed for the military and capable of blasting warnings, orders or anything else at an ear-splitting 150 decibels.

Authorities on Thursday unveiled a mini-arsenal of devices and counterterrorism equipment they're getting ready for the convention, which opens a week from Monday.

The sound machines are being tested at an airfield in a remote section of Brooklyn along with other devices such as hand-held radiation detectors — for a possible "dirty bomb" — and mechanical barriers strong enough to stop a moving vehicle in its tracks.

At the Brooklyn training site on Thursday, police practiced disarming a truck bomb at a checkpoint. Scores of officers also made mock arrests of police academy cadets who posed as protesters.

- It's reported that actor Joe Piscopo is considering running for New Jersey governor. Hey, if Arnold can do it, Joe can too. *snickers*
