Rowling Gives More Clues to HP's Future...
Rowling signs books and autographs at the Edinburgh Festival

JK Rowling gave a reading to 500 very lucky fans at the Edinburgh Children's Book Festival earlier today. She answered questions and hinted around as to the future of our favorite little wizard. She hinted around at a few things and mentioned a few things that may or may not be important to the storyline. I thought I would pass the information along to the 30% of my readers that are fans. For the rest of you, I apologize. ;)

- Aberforth Dumbledore is the barman in the Hog's Head
Albus' brother and one of the most mysterious members of the Order of the Phoenix. He was also prosecuted for practising inappropriate charms on a goat. Whatever that means.

- Dumbledore's patronus is a phoenix
I think we all could've guessed this one.

- Grawp will be more controllable in the sixth book
Let's hope so. BTW: I don't care for Grawp.

- We will see a bit more of Rita Skeeter
Am I the only one who likes Rita? I've always been a fan of troublemakers and she is most definitely one. I have a suspicion though her good deeds from book five will rub off on her and she'll find herself willfully helping Harry out.

- There will be a new character called McLagan
Hrm...a future DADA teacher?

- Harry does NOT have a godmother
Well, I didn't think that he did. From everything that we've read, James and Lily weren't close to any particular female.

- Rowling is halfway through book six
*throws confetti*

- Harry will make it to book seven, but his fate afterwards is unknown
I personally think that he'll die after book seven or just wander off into the sunset and never return...or such.

- Aunt Pentunia is NOT a squib
I always thought that she was, which would explain her bitterness toward all things wizard-related.

Rowling also stated that there were two big questions about the plot that no-one has asked:

The first is: Why didn't Voldemort die when he tried to kill Harry? JK said that in the end of book four, Voldemort had said he had taken various steps against dying, but we should be wondering exactly what he did.

The second question is: Why didn't Dumbledore try to kill Voldemort in that scene at the end of book five? Dumbledore gave a kind of reason to Voldemort but it's not the real answer, and that Dumbledore knows something more.

JK said if we are wondering about the overall plot, we should be concentrating on those two questions.
